Rail passengers are being offered the chance to travel across the North of England for £2 after Northern launched one of its biggest ticket sales.
The train operator has released four million discounted tickets covering journeys between Wednesday, September 9 and Friday, October 23.
The three-day Flash Sale opened at 8 am on Wednesday, September 2 and will run until Friday, September 4, although tickets on individual routes could sell out before the deadline.
Among the destinations with the largest number of discounted fares available are Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, York, Blackpool, Carlisle and Hull.
Tickets are also being offered for journeys involving Bradford Forster Square, Ilkley, Skipton, Doncaster, Preston, Wigan, Hadfield, Knottingley, Lancaster, Southport, Warrington Central and Saltburn.
Manchester Airport, Manchester Victoria and Manchester Oxford Road are also included, with significant numbers of £2 fares available.
Tickets available for travel until October
The offer covers selected journeys across Northern’s network rather than every service, with passengers able to check eligible routes through the operator’s cheap fare finder.
The £2 tickets can be bought through Northern’s website and app, as well as from ticket offices and ticket machines at stations managed by the company.
Passengers planning to take advantage of the offer have been advised to book early, as discounted fares are limited and availability will vary by route.
Alex Hornby, Northern’s Commercial and Customer Director, said the four million tickets made the promotion one of the operator’s biggest Flash Sales to date.
He said: “With four million tickets up for grabs, this is one of our biggest Flash Sales yet, and there’s something for everyone.
“With millions of tickets available for just £2 each, our Flash Sale will make the railway even more appealing, and we believe it will inspire everyone to explore everything our fantastic region has to offer, from bustling cities to countryside and stunning coastlines.
“Customers will need to book early to avoid disappointment – once they’re gone, they’re gone!”

Northern runs around 2,650 services each day, connecting more than 500 stations across the North of England.
Its network stretches across major cities and towns as well as rural and coastal destinations, making it the UK’s second-largest train operator.
The £2 tickets are available for travel from September 9 to October 23, with sales ending on September 4.
